The back breaking work nearly done.....at last !

So after the hard couple of days last week we had another two tons of gravel delivered to finish the paths between the beds and some pavers delivered at short notice due to a shed being ordered.

So what have we done ? Well the beds are half full, I ve knocked up a raised planter for the carrots to go in, hopefully beating the carrot flies by being a couple of foot high. We ve sonw some seeds indoors in propogators and so all the window sills to the front of the houyse are loaded with seed trays . The seed potatoes occupying the remaining indoor space and they are chitting well. We ve just had another two tons of top soil dropped onto the drive and it is like black gold ! Proper dark soil to fill the potato growing bags with and the remainder to spread onto the beds

Today has been a long day up and in the garden for 8am digging out the base area for the shed then sand and cement mix levelled and finally the 16 pavers. Shed is due on 5th of April , so once that is in place we can then get rid of the old shed and sort out the space at the back the garage for the ladies house, our chuck chucks ! They will hopefully be settled in before the end of spring.

So at last a sit down with some food and a pint....I am knackered a very hard 11 hours in the garden today but it is looking something like now.

The best discovery of the project so far is our local builders merchants.....what a little Alladins cave it is in 'Woods of Hornsea, plus spend over a tenner and delivery locally is free...bonus !
We've invested a good chunk of our money in the garden now but we both feel that it is now becoming 'our' garden and it will be worth it in the long run .

So that is about it for now, next on the list is to build some bean supports in bed number 3 , sow carrots, beetroots and get the garlic and shallots in....it's a busy old game this gardening lark ! Oh and to build a picnic bench and a bird table....so that's the next two rest days spoken for .,

Ta ta for now.
